Despite opposition from businesses, politicians and others, it appears the New York State Thruway Authority will go ahead as planned with a toll increase on commercial truckers. Business First reports the Authority could vote on the measure later this month before receiving an impact study on the proposed increase. If passed, the toll hike would be the fifth since 2005.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has sent a letter to Cleveland BioLabs that clears the way for animal efficacy studies involving the drug Entolimod. The drug is viewed as a possible radiation countermeasure and cancer treatment.

The $1.6 million upgrade of the digital X-ray department at Mercy Hospital has been completed.

The American Diabetes Association and National Committee for Quality Assurance has recognized Buffalo Medical Group's primary care physicians for providing quality care to its diabetic patients.
