Buffalo Business Report - Wednesday, September 12th 2012



Private sector jobs have been on the rise for Buffalo and Rochester over the past five years. The American City Business Journals demographic blog On Numbers showed a modest gain of 1,000 private sector jobs for Buffalo during the period, with Rochester gaining 26-hundred such jobs in that time frame. It may not be much, but the New York metro areas were among 21 to have gains out of the top 102 metro areas surveyed.

Speaking of jobs, Eastman Kodak will trim another 1,000 employees by years end.

In Chautauqua County, AFA Foods has accelerated its planned closing. Originally slated to shut its doors in October, the final 100 employees are out of work as of today.

In Lancaster, a new Denny's Restaurant opens at Transit and French Roads this Monday at 7am.

Verizon Wireless has activated new 4G LTE sites throughout Western New York. Verizon has invested more than $158 million in upstate New York upgrades this year.
