Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz says it appears a one year extension on the current lease is likely betwen the Bills, the county and the state while a long term lease is being hammered out.
"I talked to Russ (Brandon) about the current situation of unlikely being able to meet the deadline to present something to the NFL owners by October," says Poloncarz. "I am pleased in principle, they agree we can do a one year extension of the current lease, so there's no gun to our heads to get it done in July. We will get a lease done."
Poloncarz says the state is a key player in the lease. "They are partners in a future long term lease, and we hope all three parties can be in a position to resolve this soon," says Poloncarz. "We have held meetings and we will continue to work to get this done. If a meeting is to be called, we're going to be at the meeting. Getting the lease done is a top priority in my administration."
