Barnett rested Thursday for what head coach Chan Gailey said was a knee ailment. On Friday, the linebacker was given the probable distinction for the team's upcoming contest against the Cleveland Browns.
Starting free safety Jairus Byrd is trending up as well. The head coach said the fourth-year player is questionable for Sunday's game, but that he expects Byrd to play.
Gailey first alerted reporters of the progress on Thursday when he concluded that he was shocked at how much Byrd's ankle has improved in such a short timespan. He practiced for the second straight day on Friday.
Byrd was rather ambiguous in saying when exactly the injury occurred, but did acknowledge that it happened sometime ahead of the Bills' last game against the Chiefs. The safety took part in every defensive snap possible during the team's Week Two win.
The only two players not taking part in Friday's practice were running back Fred Jackson and wide receiver Ruvell Martin. Both players have been ruled out for Sunday.
