NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and deputy commissioner Bill Daly held an unannounced meeting with Don and Steve Fehr of the NHLPA today in Toronto. Neither side detailed what was discussed, but at least for a day actual negotiations took priority over the PR battle. The two sides will be in touch over the weekend and attempt to set up more formal talks for next week.
