In a sentence handed down Tuesday, former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky has been sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison for abusing 10 boys he met over 15 years through his chairty for troubled children. 

Sandusky, 68, could have faced as long as 400 years for his conviction on 45 counts of child sex abuse. He is unlikley to ever leave prison. 

Sandusky released an audio statement Monday night on the Penn State student radio blaming a widespread conspiracy among police,university administrators and the media for his conviction. "They could treat me as a monster, but they can't take away my heart," Sandusky said in the statement. "In my heart, I know I did not do these alleged disgusting acts."

The Scandal has rocked Penn State and it's storied football program which has been fined $60 million by the NCAA and stripped of all it's victories dating back to 1998. Legendary coach Joe Paterno, who passed away in January, was fired amid allegations that he didn't properly report concerns about Sandusky to authorities.

In addition, University President Graham Spanier, Athletic Director Tim Curley and Senior Vice President Gary Schultz have all resigned. Curley and Schultz also face separate trials on charges that they lied to a grand jury about what they knew.
