Bulldog: OnTrack?

There's a question mark in the header there because while I was hoping for 4-2, which would have meant an opening day win over the Jets,  3-3 coming home to face Tennessee is ok.

See. Just ok.  Not pretty good, certainly not great. You might get me to pretty good if they hadn't been absolutely pillaged in their 3 losses and if the quarterback looked capable of completing relatively routine downfield throws.

Maybe the fact that they are 3-3 with, well, lots of room for improvement at the quarterback position can be a good thing.  Maybe eventually Fitzpatrick will have a crazy good day.  Maybe he'll even do it in Houston or New England when the only chance they may have is to out score the Texans or the Patriots.

That'd be cool.  Now tell me where I need to go for my drug test please?

Fitzpatrick seems to be getting worse and along with his poor play is coming the feeling that maybe Chan Gailey recognizes the limitations of his quarterback and is trying to coach around them.  You know, by calling lots of screen passes.  By inexplicably trying to run out the clock in a tie game when your opponent has time outs and will surely get the ball back.

And by having a guy who has thrown 9 passes in 7 years chuck up a gadget while you're trying to run clock and pad your lead.  Travis Henry option pass anyone?

The Bills won and really, I'm not mad about it.  I swear.  Their record and their schedule allow for us to keep running the race that is the season.

Over the years I have very much made friends with the concept of embracing what you have and enjoying whatever it is you're doing at the time.  It helps make life more enjoyable for me.

That said, this Bills team feels very much to me like something I'm trying to enjoy to kill the time while I wait for something better to come along.

Better quarterback.  Better coach.  Better stadium.  Better everything.

This team, is just ok.
