Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550) -- During the two-game losing stretch where the Buffalo Bills lost some respect as well as their swagger, they also found names on the injury list piling up -- especially in the trenches.
The Bills went in to Arizona without the services of offensive linemen Kraig Urbik and Cordy Glenn, as well as defensive linemen Mark Anderson and Spencer Johnson. Fortunately enough for the Bills, half of those players have a chance at making it back for the team's next game against Tennesee.
"Spencer (Johnson) and (Kraig) Urbik have got the best chances to make it," head coach Chan Gailey said in his Monday update with the media.
With almost two days having gone by, Gailey reaffirmed on Wednesday that there had been no further clarification about their playing status for the week.
"No. They're gonna be out there and do something today," he said. "But, we still have to see how they do, how they recover for tomorrow -- all of that so it's not any clearer. But at least they'll be out there doing something today."
Urbik, the usual starting right guard, suffered an ankle injury against New England. In the case of Johnson, he too is dealing with an ankle injury, but is more of a depth and rotational player at the defensive tackle position.
Both the offensive tackle Glenn and the defensive end Anderson will miss the Tennessee game, as expected. However, Gailey believes Glenn has a "good chance" at being ready for the Houston game in Week Nine.
On Wednesday, the Bills were without five players taking part in practice. Terrence McGee (knee), Da'Norris Searcy (ankle) and Kyle Williams (ankle/foot) joined Glenn and Anderson as the non-participants. Meanwhile Ron Brooks was on the practice field for the first time since being placed on Injured Reserve with the designation to return. He is not eligible to be added to the active roster until after Week 8.
