Mario Williams returns to practice; Two Bills sit

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550)  -- During the bye week, Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams had a procedure done to repair his injured left wrist that forced him to sit out of Monday's practice. Two days later, however, Williams was back on the field with his teammates.

With head coach Chan Gailey saying on Wednesday that chances of their high-priced defensive end being ready to play against the Houston Texans were "in the 90s," the seventh-year player getting back to work is a big step in that direction.

Williams has mentioned several times throughout the season of his injured wrist affecting his play. He has 3.5 sacks through seven games in his first year with the Bills.

The only two players not participating for the Bills during Wednesday's practice were expected. Defensive end Mark Anderson (knee) and guard Chad Rinehart (ankle) both were kept off the field. Ahead of the session, Gailey said it was looking less and less likely that Anderson would be able to play against Houston.

One of two pass-rushing acqusitions, Anderson spent the media portion of practice in the weight room. Rinehart has been ruled out for this contest and may even be a candidate to be placed on injured reserve.

Rookie left tackle Cordy Glenn (ankle) and right guard Kraig Urbik (ankle) each practiced once again. Glenn had only taken second-team repetitions during the time practice was available to the media on Monday, but took some reps alongside Andy Levitre with the first team on Wednesday. His status for Sunday is still unknown, meanwhile Urbik is looking like more and more of a lock to return against the Texans.

Cornerback Terrence McGee returned to practice Wednesday in what could be a crucial test day for his lingering knee injury. He took some first team reps at left cornerback during individual drills.

Following the session, the Bills released their official injury report. It read as follows:

Did Not Participate: DE Mark Anderson (knee), OG Chad Rinehart (ankle)
Limited Participatnt: OT Cordy Glenn (ankle), CB Terrence McGee (knee), DT Kyle Williams (ankle), OT Erik Pears (hip)
Full Participant: DT Marcell Dareus (shoulder), WR Brad Smith (chest), HB C.J. Spiller (shoulder), OG Kraig Urbik (ankle), WR Donald Jones (low back), DE Mario Williams (wrist), OG Andy Levitre (knee), C Eric Wood (knee), DE Chris Kelsay (ankle)

The only injury that is new involves starting right tackle Erik Pears. He had previously missed some time with a groin injury, but has been listed with a hip injury for the first time this season.

The Bills have two more days of practice before flying out to Houston on Saturday. They take on the Texans at 1 pm.
