Orchard Park, NY (WBEN) What a difference a week makes. In week one against the New York Jets, the Bills were blasted 48-28. Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, the team led by running back, C.J. Spiller, won their home opener 35-17 at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Spiller (123 yards rushing, 47 yards receiving) was pushed into the starting role after Fred Jackson suffered a knee injury in that week one loss.  The third year back was electric in the first half, gaining over 100 total yards and rushing for two scores as the Bills built a 21-0 lead in the first 30 minutes. The Chiefs were poised to get on the scoreboard late in that first half but running back, Peyton Hillis fumbled the football on a 2^nd and goal from the one, the Bills recovered and took that three touchdown advantage into the locker room.

The second half saw the Bills continue to dominate on both sides of the ball as Ryan Fitzpatrick (10/19/178/2TD) completed big passes to tight end, Scott Chandler (2/53/1TD) and a 49-yard scoring dart to Stevie Johnson (2/56/1TD) which gave the Bills a 28-3 lead. Buffalo broke it open big time when Leodis McKelvin fielded a Chiefs punt and rambled 88 yards for the score. That play mirroring the punt return Buffalo gave up to the Jets in week one.

The Buffalo defense came to play after being questioned about the week one effort as they registered 5 sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception. Defensive tackle, Marcell Dareus, who got one of those sacks, has endured a trying week after his brother was fatally shot in Alabama.

The Bills, now 1-1, are on the road at Cleveland next week.
