Bills' Stevie, Urbik questionable, say they'll play

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550)  -- As the Buffalo Bills concluded practice for the week,  a trio of starters received a 50-50 chance of playing in their upcoming game against the New England Patriots. However, two of those must not have gotten the memo and say they're on board for the game this weekend.

Wide receiver Stevie Johnson, right guard Kraig Urbik and defensive end Chris Kelsay all missed a varying amount of repetitions at practice throughout the week and are listed as questionable. The first two of that grouping fully intend on playing against the Patriots.

Johnson said after Friday's practice that there's no doubt in his mind that he'd play. He suffered a thigh contusion at the end of the first quarter against Houston and hobbled through the final 45 minutes.

In the case of Urbik, he was taken aback upon hearing his designation as questionable.

"Oh I am? Yeah, I didn't miss a rep at practice," Urbik said following the Friday session. "It feels great. I'm gonna go for sure."

The foot injury occurred against the Texans, but the right guard finished the game on it.

There is a tad more doubt concerning starting defensive end Chris Kelsay. Upon leaving Thursday's practice with a neck injury, the 10-year veteran's status is up in the air after not participating on Friday.

Head coach Chan Gailey said while Kelsay's injury isn't major, they're taking a wait-and-see approach to see how the defensive end takes to the treatment this weekend. Gailey went as far as saying he believes this is only a one-week absence if Kelsay can't play. If he can't go, Kyle Moore will get the start.

"If he's not playing, I have to step up in to that role," said Moore on Friday. "I practiced this pretty good this week in knowing the defenses and what I need to do to go out there and be successful. I just need to go out there and just play the defense and just play my game."

Two other reserve players are listed as questionable, which include defensive end Shawne Merriman (chest) and defensive tackle Spencer Johnson (ankle). Merriman suffered the chest injury on Thursday but seems to be okay according to Gailey, meanwhile Johnson took a majority of his alotted reps the head coach said as well.

Only two players are definitively out for the Bills against the Patriots. Cornerback Aaron Williams (knee) and defensive end Mark Anderson (knee) both will miss the contest.

The Bills also listed a whopping 14 players as probable, meaning they have at least a 75-percent chance at playing. In all their glory, here are the probable Bills:

Defensive tackle Kyle Williams (ankle), defensive tackle Marcell Dareus (shoulder), quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick (chest), running back C.J. Spiller (shoulder), offensive tackle Chris Hairston (knee), defensive end Mario Williams (wrist, knee), offensive guard Andy Levitre (knee), center Eric Wood (knee), cornerback Justin Rogers (thigh), linebacker Chris White (back), cornerback Stephon Gilmore (shoulder), tight end Scott Chandler (groin), cornerback Leodis McKelvin (groin) and fullback Corey McIntyre (back).

[Edit: Kyle Williams received the questionable designation. That was not revealed following Friday's practice by Chan Gailey.]

The Bills also made a roster move on Friday, promoting safety Mana Silva from the practice squad. To make room, Buffalo released safety Delano Howell from the active roster.

The Bills fly out to New England on Saturday afternoon, set to take on the Patrtiots at Gillette Stadium with a 1 pm kickoff.
