Sabres Jeanneret Recieves Highest Honor for Hockey Broadcasting

After 41 years of broadcasting with the Buffalo Sabres, Rick Jeanneret is finally getting what he deserves.

Jeanneret is in Toronto today to recieve the Foster Hewett Memorial Award for outstanding contributions as a hockey broadcaster, as a part of the National Hockey League Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. The award comes as the highest honor for Jeanneret, whose mother made the trip up to Toronto with him for the ceremonies.

Jeanneret said earlier this week that he didn't plan on accepting any awards until he officially retired from the game. However he was convinced to accept this award, as well as many other minor awards so that his mother, 92, would be there to see her son's accomplishments. Jeanneret said his mother, Kay Jeanneret, was as excited as anyone about the award and was very excited to go to Toronto for the ceremony.

Jeanneret made his induction speech earlier today, listen to it right here.
