Fehr: "Best day of talks we've had"

There are more talks between owners and players on the way this morning.  18 players and 6 owners met without NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and NHLPA chief Donald Fehr and came out with cautious optimism.

ESPN's Pierre Lebrun reports that though it would be premature to deem it legitimate progress at this point, there is "a general sense of hope emanating after the meeting".

NHLPA special counsel Steve Fehr said, "I thought it was a constructive day; we had a good dialogue. In some ways, I'd say it might be the best day we've had which isn't to paint too overly optimistic a picture. There's still a lot of work to do and a lot to be done."
