Bills' Hairston to I-R; OT Chris Scott signed

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550)  -- Yet another season is over prematurely for a member of the Buffalo Bills offensive line.

Second-year offensive tackle Chris Hairston has been placed on season-ending Injured Reserve Thursday after suffering an ankle injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend. It was said to be a bone bruise on the foot and ankle region, leading head coach Chan Gailey to give a rather grim outlook Wednesday.

"Not looking good for now," he remarked, after saying Hairston still had to go through more tests. "We're hoping to get him back maybe for the last two."

The latter part of that reply won't hold true, as the Bills will have to go with third-string tackle Sam Young for what appears to be the rest of the season. Hairston appeared in 12 games with the Bills, starting at either left or right tackle in eight of them.

With the vacant roster spot, the Bills have signed offensive tackle Chris Scott to the 53-man roster. A whirlwind two-day stretch for Scott had the third-year pro go from being a street free agent on Tuesday, to signing on with Tennessee's practice squad on Wednesday before joining the Bills active roster on Thursday.

Drafted out of Tennessee in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft by Pittsburgh, Scott appeared in two games with the Steelers in 2011. He was released, and has had stops with the practice squads of Green Bay, Tampa Bay and the aforementioned Tennessee Titans throughout 2012.

Scott is listed by the Bills as a 6-foot-4, 360-pound offensive tackle. He will wear number 73.
