NHLPA Lets Players Vote on Disclaimer of Interest

According to TSN's Aaron Ward, the NHL Players Association's Executive board voted in favor of giving the players a vote on authorizing the board with the choice to proceed on a Disclaimer of Interest. Pierre Lebrun of ESPN.com also confirmed that the vote was unanimous.

If the players authorize the Disclaimer, the NHLPA would gain the ability to terminate its right to represent the players. This would allow the players to bargain with the NHL without the representation the players currently have. Aaron Ward also said that there is no timetable as to when this could happen.

The Canadian Press reports that the NHL has filed a class-action complaint in Federal Court. They are seeking a declaration confirming the legality of the lockout.

Stay tuned to WGR for any further information that comes out on the lockout.
