Bills Fall Apart In Toronto

It's 4:26 pm and the Bills game has already become unwatchable.  Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson has scored on runs of 14 and 25 yards.  One to the right, the other to the left.  No Bills player touched him on either play.

So much for that improved defense.  On the way in to work on Sunday I was listening to Chan Gailey talking about being prepared for Wilson and something called the read option play.

Good job.  Those two touchdowns got me to a place you just love to be as a football fan.  Could this game go badly enough for it to cost Gailey his job?  Can I fly Bud Adams in to flip the Bills off?

I don't mean to be a vulture about this.  As bad as least week was for Gailey in his comedy of blunders against St. Louis, I maintained that the Bills bigger problem was quarterback and that Gailey staying would be okay with me if he agreed to move on from Ryan Fitzpatrick.

31-7 with 5:30 to go in the second quarter changes that.  That's what Wilson's 3rd rushing touchdown of the day made the score.  Some Bills kind of chased him on that one but still, untouched again.

We saw a flea flicker go for a big gain and a pass play to a so wide open Sydney Rice that it caused me to burst into a laughing fit that may have injured my rib cartilage.

Outclassed, out coached, out quarteback-ed, out schemed, out run, out tackled.  I don't know what the Bills will ultimately do with their head coach, but this is the sort of performance that gets a coach fired.

The plays Seattle scored on looked like they were going against air.  Seriously, were those touchdowns even contested?  The Bills effort was a joke and still, their coach was worse.

I mean, the Bills ran a quarterback sneak on first and ten.  Read that again.  A quarterback sneak on first and ten!  It wasn't a broken play.  They, and by they, I mean their head coach, and I suppose maybe their quarterback, didn't know that they had picked up a first down on the prior play.

How long have you been watching the NFL?  I'm working on a good forty years here and I really don't think I have ever seen that happen. Who doesn't know what down it is?  It's all over the place.  My mind will never be un-blown by this.  What kind of an operation is this?

Here's my answer.  The Bills played their annual game in Toronto on Sunday.  It's a game that most of their lifelong fans can barely even tolerate existing.  In year five of this pungent money grab, the ineptitude of their coach trumped the disgusting feeling I get just watching the Bills play in Canada.

It's also the kind of operation where you can't be sure the coach will get fired after that embarrassment.  Make no mistake, he should be fired.  Monday will do.

A quarterback sneak on first and ten.
