The NHL has announced the cancellation of games through Jan. 14.
"End of the line after that...I suspect," Dreger tweeted, referring to the possibility of losing the entire season.
A total of 625 regular-season games—50.8 percent of the season—were scheduled for October 11 through January 14.
The NHL and its players currently do not have any negotiations scheduled, though Bill Daly answered "yes" during a recent radio interview as to whether the league would have a season.
Commissioner Gary Bettman said during the last set of negotiations that the league would play no less than 48 games.
