Three Bills starters return Thursday

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550)  -- Only one more practice separates the Buffalo Bills from their final contest of the 2012 NFL regular season, and the team saw three key starters return to the practice field.

After sitting out on Wednesday, safety Jairus Byrd, left guard Amdy Levitre and defensive tackle Kyle Williams all participated in a limited capacity just a day later. The trio have been battling through respective injuries over the course of the season and likely just took Wednesday as a precautionary rest day.

Only two players did not participate in the session. Safety Da'Norris Searcy and wide receiver Ruvell Martin each missed their second straight day. For Searcy, he's already been ruled out of Sunday's contest.

In the case of Martin, he was excused by head coach Chan Gailey to miss the first two practices of the week. The wideout is expected to be back to work on Friday and play against the New York Jets.

Thursday was also greeted by a combination of good and bad news for the final contests. The good revolved around tight end Dorin Dickerson. Upon getting carted off the field in Miami, Dickerson has participated in two straight practices.

Gailey believes that barring any unforeseen setbacks, the primary receiving fill-in for injured tight end Scott Chandler should be able to play Sunday. The same cannot be said for defensive end Mark Anderson.

The head coach concluded that Anderson's knee injury is at around the same strength as this time last week. Gailey was not overly optimistic for Anderson's chances at playing against the Jets. He of course sat out the game against Miami just last Sunday.

The other Bills players listed as limited on Thursday are as follows: LB Nick Barnett (knee), WR Marcus Easley (hamstring), CB Justin Rogers (foot), LB Chris White (hamstring) and C Eric Wood (knee).

The Bills end their season against a New York Jets team that beat them in Week One. Kickoff at Ralph Wilson Stadium is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
