Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550) -- As the Buffalo Bills wind down their season on Sunday, a familiar name will be among those on the inactive list when they are sent out a little over an hour ahead of kickoff.
Defensive end Mark Anderson, who has been active only once since he suffered a knee injury in Week Five against San Francisco, has once again been ruled out for a Bills contest. Anderson was active against the Seattle Seahawks, but did not take a snap throughout the game.
Anderson revealed that the initial diagnosis was a torn lateral meniscus. He had one procedure done that didn't allow it to heal well enough, so he had to have another in-season surgery to repair the same ailment.
In five games, the free agent acquisition had only 12 tackles and one sack. He signed a four-year contract with Buffalo this past off-season that will pay him $19.5 million over the course of the deal.
Head coach Chan Gailey designated only one other player on their active roster as 'out,' that being safety Da'Norris Searcy. Searcy suffered a groin injury in the first half against Miami last weekend.
All other players listed on the Bills' injury report have been listed as probable. That includes safety Jairus Byrd, left guard Andy Levitre, wide receiver Ruvell Martin, defensive tacked Kyle Williams, linebacker Nick Barnett, tight end Dorin Dickerson, wide receiver Marcus Easley, cornerback Justin Rogers, linebacker Chris White, center Eric Wood, running back C.J. Spiller and defensive end Mario Williams.
Martin returned to practice Friday after having been excused from work on Wednesday and Thursday for personal reasons by Gailey.
Announced on Friday afternoon, the Bills have brought their active roster back up to 53. They've promoted wide receiver Kevin Elliot from the practice squad.
The Bills take on the New York Jets in their regular season finale at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Kickoff on Sunday is scheduled for 1:00 pm, but the game will not be seen locally on television. The Bills announced earlier in the week that the game was blacked out with over 13,000 tickets remaining.
