The Buffalo Bills have interviewed a second candidate for their vacant head coaching job. The team's official web site has confirmed the Bills met with Arizona Cardinals Defensive Coordinator Ray Horton in Phoenix last night.
Horton has also interviewed with the Cardinals and Cleveland Browns.
The 52 year old Horton led a Cardinals defense that was ranked 12th in the NFL this past season. Arizona was fifth in sacks, second in third down percentage and led the NFL in interceptions.
Horton has 18 years of experience as an NFL assistant coach and spent 12 of those years working for the legendary Dick LeBeau. Horton was on his staff in Cincinnati from 1997 to 2001 and worked for the Hall of Fame Coach in Pittsburgh from 2004 to 2010. Current Bills Assistant General Manager Doug Whaley was in Pittsburgh from 2004 to 2009 and is very familiar with Horton.
USA Today reports the Bills will interview Oregon Ducks Head Coach Chip Kelly. According to Associated Press, the interview will take place on Friday. Kelly will also be interviewed by Cleveland and Philadelphia.
The Bills are also scheduled to interview Denver Broncos Offensive Coordinator Mike McCoy this weekend.
Russ Brandon and company will be very busy this weekend. WGR has learned the Bills are planning to interview former Chicago Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith as well.
