The Bills have announced former Washington Redskins wide receivers coach Ike Hilliard will be leaving his post in D.C. to take the same one on Doug Marrone's staff in Buffalo. With his hiring, that leaves only the offensive line without a leading voice.
During his playing career, Hilliard spent four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In two of those seasons, current Bills offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett was an offensive quality control coach with the Buccaneers.
The former first round pick retired after the 2008 season, and went on to start his coaching career with the Florida Tuskers of the UFL in 2009. Hilliard then moved on to be the assistant wide receivers coach of the Miami Dolphins in 2011 before getting his job with the Redskins in 2012.
John Anselmo will also be joining the Bills staff. Anselmo was the assistant head coach with Syracuse University last year, and also served as the linebackers coach. He will be the assistant special teams coach in Buffalo.
The Bills have also announced they've added Hal Luther to their staff as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. He's been with Syracuse University since 2000.
Anselmo and Luther are the seventh and eighth coaches that were a part of Syracuse University in 2012 to become a member of the Buffalo Bills staff in 2013. They join Doug Marrone, Nathaniel Hackett, Donnie Henderson, Tyrone Wheatley, Greg Adkins and Jason Rebrovich as coaches that have made the jump to the NFL.
