Buffalo Business Report - Friday, February 8th 2013



According to the AAA, gas prices rose another nickel this week, to an average of $3.88 for a gallon of unleaded.  The price was fourteen cents lower a month ago.

Orchard Park will benefit from the closing of a defense contractor facility in St. Petersburg, Florida.  Business First reports Cobham will relocate its 160-person workforce between its operations here and in Davenport, Iowa.  At least 60 workers are coming here by year's end.

Unifrax of Niagara Falls has acquired a German fiber product and manufacturing technology company.  No terms of the deal were made public.

The K-Mart on Transit Road in Lancaster will close on April 14th. The move idles 68 people.
 
Buffalo public accounting firm Brock, Schechter and Polakoff, LLP has formed a partnership with Moodys LLP.  The newly-created Moodys US Tax Advisors will allow for expansion from Buffalo into Calgary and Edmonton in Alberta.
