Report: Bills, McKelvin talking contract

In the past two days, the Buffalo Bills have announced three players have been retained for the 2013 season. With a need at cornerback, the Bills are at least efforting to make it a fourth.

According to John Wawrow of the Associated Press, the Bills and the agent for Leodis McKelvin have had conversations about a potential return for the cornerback that were in their "beginning stages." According to Wawrow, McKelvin's agent Hadley Engelhard will have another round of talks with the Bills on Friday.

Besides Stephon Gilmore, the Bills have some youth and depth at the position, but not a defined starter opposite the former first round pick. When asked about it at the 2013 NFL Combine, GM Buddy Nix pegged McKelvin (despite being an impending unrestricted free agent) as the other starter.

"If I had to say right now on our roster between now and March 12, it'd be Leodis," he said. "Leodis has got to have some help, but he's a big time returner. I think Leodis will be a candidate for that spot."
 
Players like McKelvin, Andy Levitre, Kyle Moore, Corey McIntyre and more are slated to become unrestricted free agents on March 12 at 4 pm.

You Gotta Keep this guy. Bills dont have enough threats on the field, opposing teams have to worry about McKelvin, he is a threat. YOu keep this guy.

Come on MAN, 2 things we know beyond ANY doubt: LEODIS has NO BRAIN to "COVER" and no "ballz" to tackle! SIGN A FREE AGENT CORNER and draft a return man.

R U Kidding ME
21 gets burned more times than anyone other then A Williams, our other bust of a CB. One trick pony, he's a return man and nothing more, because as a retuner he DOESNT HAVE TO THINK. He is in over his head at CB. THIS IS EXACTLY WHY BUDDY NEEDS TOGO. Why not talk Merriman out of retirement too Buddy.

They should be focusing on Levitre.......
over this guy. We'll be nowhere without an O-line. Leodis is a decent special teams player, but suspect in the defensive backfield. They should only sign him at their price, or as close to it as possible.
