Bills will host Geno Smith on visit

(WGR 550) -- When the Buffalo Bills released quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on Tuesday, they signaled that in one way or another, a quarterback will be added to the roster.

One of those options could be early on in the 2013 NFL Draft, which is why the Bills are looking at what many consider to be the top quarterback available in April's annual amateur selection process.

After completing 60-of-64 passes at the West Virginia pro day, Geno Smith said that he would be making an official visit to the Bills on March 22. Every NFL team is allowed 30 visits from prospects available in the draft leading up to the annual event.

The Bills were in attendance at Smith's workout, which went as many pro day's do for most quarterbacks: a scripted program with no defensive pressure, resulting in a high completion percentage.

Smith has been linked to the Bills in many mock drafts, however, this is the first time since the 2013 NFL Combine that Buffalo has been substantially linked to the West Virginia quarterback.

The other 29 visits the Bills will be allowed have yet to be revealed.

A good-bye visit?
Have the Bills ever followed through in drafting a player they brought in for a visit? They always seem to look the other way come draft day.

03/15/2013 8:36AM
Are you guys crazy?
Ask some of the WVU fans that watched him blow game after game, not being able to follow the game plan or call a simple audible. Dont do it.
03/15/2013 8:41AM
Cmon Man?
Anybody but Geno Smith. I dont think he has upstairs what it takes? Lets not waste anymore years on trying to (BRAIN -TRAIN) someone that doesnt have it in the first place.
03/15/2013 8:48AM

Why the love for Nassib?
Why is everyone so in love with Ryan Nassib? I watched every Cuse game this year and last year and to me he is an average college QB who will be a backup at best in the NFL. He can't throw down field with any accuracy and his arm strength is average. He reminds me a lot of Fitz. Geno may NOT end up being a good QB either, but his upside is way higher than Nassib's. It's not even close. Smith is such a better athlete and QB. If Marrone wasn't our coach no one would even be talking about Nassib in Buffalo. It's ridiculous.

wr firsrt
let's get our "franchise" reciever and then pick Barkley/Nassib next(maybe both). Odds are we cannot miss on both!! Rome wasn/t built in a day but these could put us in the right direction...other needs can also be met thru free agency and draft..( I hope)

I like Barkley at #8
Get ready for this. Everyone will moan he went too early but he wont last. His arm isnt the strongest good enough, he is very accurate and has a high football IQ. He's pro ready... reminds me of Drew Brees or dare I say a young Brady.
03/15/2013 1:07PM
lets do this
Gino Smith to the Bills!
03/15/2013 3:39PM
Geno
He played behind the worst line I watched in major college football. He was under pressure 75% of the time.Look at his stats and think about that.
03/15/2013 3:43PM
Geno Smith
Geno's gonna be the man to change the losing culture in buffalo. They need to do everyting in their power to get this young man. What is Arizona thinking over there by cutting KOLB might??? might still our pick n ruin him. He's the perfect Quarterback for our system. If there's a God please answer our prayers!!!!!
03/15/2013 4:47PM
Ask the West Virginia fans about Geno?
Danger>>>> Not to smart in the head.
03/15/2013 4:56PM
I HOPE NOT!
Did you watch the Syracuse, West Virgina Game? Ryan Hassib kicked his B-tt all over the field, LOL. With inferior players on the Syracuse team? Gino had all the great wrs and wb but he couldnt get it done?
03/16/2013 10:50AM
1 person is trying to sell Geno Smith to the Bills?
Many, Many, Many Fans, Say No!
03/19/2013 10:46PM
At the Pinstripe Bowl.......
Geno showed me that he cannot play in the snow and cold. He was totally out of his element. On the other hand, Nassib did what he wanted to. Give me Nassib any day over Geno "No Snow" Smith.
