Report: Ex-Bills WR Jones signs with Patriots

(WGR 550) -- Another member of the 2012 Buffalo Bills roster is moving on, but this one will likely be coming back for a visit sooner than the rest.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the New England Patriots have signed former Bills wide receiver Donald Jones on Friday. Originally set to become a restricted free agent, GM Buddy Nix announced through a team press release that they would decline to tender Jones. That resulted in the wideout becoming an unrestricted free agent on March 12.

After making the team as an undrafted free agent out of Youngstown State in 2010, Jones served mostly on special teams before starting to weave his way in to the offense the following season. Jones won the number-two receiver job opposite Stevie Johnson each of the next two seasons, but couldn't stay healthy.

In 20 games played through 2011 and 2012, in which he started 17 of them, Jones racked up 64 receptions for 674 yards and five touchdowns. He finished both seasons on Injured Reserve, where an ankle injury derailed his 2011 while an unknown condition that Jones has dealt with before, was the reason for his premature exit in 2012.

According to NFL.com's Albert Breer, it's a three-year deal for Jones. The 6-foot-0, 208 pound receiver is 25 years old.

Good for Jones
I'm glad for Jones, but to honest I see a downgrade in talent surrounding Brady. Better for us.

You gotta love them Pat's (LMAO)
Can you imagine Brady and Jones hooking up smokin' McKelvin twice a season??? Bill Billicek's mind is working early my friends and the silence at One Bills Drive is deafening. Is free agency over??? All I can do is laugh out loud!!! (LOL) Buddy Nix is a complete JOKE!!! Brandon has got the keys alright and running this putrid organization the same as Ralph. PATHETIC!!!

Good Luck Donald...
He will probably have 60 catches and ten touchdowns while the Bills continue to SUUUUCCCKKKKK

this is not a big deal signing
and I don't want the bills to spend all their money before the draft... but something would be nice. Maybe next week we can pick up some value at LB or safety. The appearance of caring.

Just to funny foe words!
The Bills don't tender Jones an offer so the New England Patriots...a CHAMPIONSHIP team sign the guy foe 3 years no less. I guess CHAMPIONSHIP teams think far better than the Bills...and to think WR is supposed to be on the shopping list of the Bills....Unbelieveable!

Another great Bills move will come back to haunt them for sure!
This guy will kill us next season! I see him with a 100 yard game each time we play them. I always thought this guy had a lot of potential but our wonderful coaching staff was clueless for the last 3 years. Looking forward to the NE games next year.

Man it is awful dead over there at One Bills in Free Agency
Pat's going for another shot at the Super Bowl with three signings and the Bills going for the Toilet Bowl. Miami going for a wild card spot with three signings. (could surprise the Pat's) FIRE BUDDY NIX AND DON'T FORGET TO FLUSH!!!

No sellouts this coming season.
Lot's of blue empty seats should send a message finally. What a Joke!!! Maybe it was a good idea to keep Fitzpatrick around till the start of free agency. I already cancelled my seasons tickets due to him being on the roster thinking he would be here. With the lack of action in free agency after his release, I'm glad I cancelled besides. Nix isn't doing a dam thing to make this team a winner. Not a dam thing. I got the last laugh Buddy! Pathetic!

average at best receiver who will be easily replaced

Gibson to Buff??? (WR)
Nix missed the boat again!!! Miami got him too. FIRE THAT IDIOT NIX ALREADY!!! Stevie Johnson tried to suggest Gibson. Gibson never got a call by idiot Nix. What a joke!!!

Buffalo never makes a trade?
If you dont want a certain players on your team, why not trade them for draft choices? Instead we always lose them through free agency? If you know your going to lose them, try to make a trade for a 3rd,4th 5th 6th or 7th round draft choice? Its always nothing, nothing, nothing, here in Buffalo?

Great WR except...
The guy is a truly talented player...one of the better WRs out there...except for his hands, and his route-running...you know, other than the 2 things every WR needs, he's pretty good.

I called it.
When the announcement was made that Buffalo was not going to resign him I told my brother, watch he's gonna end up in New England. His downfield blocking is excellent, and he has a nice combination of size and speed. Good all around team player, Perfect fit for belichick and for a team with a great system. They plug him in, he'll do well and everyone in Buffalo will be scratching their heads same as lynch.
