The University at Buffalo is making big news today by hiring Bobby Hurley to replace Reggie Witherspoon as the head coach of the men's basketball program.
Hurley, a former first team All-American, led the Duke Blue Devils to consecutive championships over Kansas and Michigan in 1991 and 1992. In addition to championships, he finished his college playing career holding the NCAA record in assists.
Hurley was drafted in the first round by the Sacramento Kings in 1993 and played until 1999. He made his administrative debut as a scout with the Philadelphia 76ers, and then moved to Wagner College to join his brother as an assistant coach. Hurley was most recently the assistant coach for Rhode Island.
