Buffalo Business Report - Thursday, May 9th 2013

You can't have a Canalside project without canals.  The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation announced the target date for those canals has been pushed back to next spring.  The $23 million project extends from Marine Drive to Main Street.  The ECHDC also approved a $1.5 million project to illuminate grain elevators and bridges along the waterfront.

Niagara County's Industrial Development Agency approved a pair of incentive packages.  One will help finance a greenhouse expansion in Wheatfield; the other will help in construction of an upscale hotel at 333 Rainbow Boulevard in Niagara Falls.  Collectively, the projects will create 118 full and part-time jobs.

Delaware North Companies Sportservice has lost its contract as concessions provider at Soldier Field in Chicago.  Rival Aramark Sports and Entertainment Services LLC was awarded the new 10-year concessions deal.
New York State's Tax Department reports 200,000 more people e-filed their returns this year.  That brings the total to more than 7.9 million people - or 87% of filers who did so electronically.
