Buffalo Business Report - Tuesday, May 28th 2013

Local gas prices are at $3.76 per gallon of unleaded, according to the AAA.

The Richardson Center Development Corporation will be seeking an incentive package from the ECIDA.  A public hearing has been set for June 4th to discuss the $56.4 million renovation.  Business First reports the current plan is to convert the Elmwood Avenue landmark into a boutique hotel, events center and architectural resource center.

The Hart Hotels - Krog Corporation collaboration continues.  Following luxury hotel projects in Watkins Glen and Portland, Maine, the firms are continuing work on a $20 million 4-star hotel in Clayton, New York.  It should be open next summer.

Smith Travel Research indicates local hotel occupancy for Buffalo and Erie County was at 63% in April, topping April 2012 numbers by 2.1%.  For the year, Buffalo and Erie County hotel occupancy is off 2%, blamed mainly on the NHL lockout.
