The Dallas Star-Telegram is reporting that former Sabre Coach Lindy Ruff has accepted that position with the Dallas Stars. Sabre GM Darcy Regier could not confirm the report but did say that the Stars were one of the teams that asked for permission from the Sabres to talk to Ruff.
The Dallas Morning News is refuting the claim, saying that they talked to Stars president Jim Lites. Lites said that they like Ruff but haven't hired anyone yet.
14-years ago, in the early hours of June 20th, the Stars defeated Ruff's Sabres in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals, taking the title in Buffalo.
Ruff's son, Brian, spoke out on Twitter, saying that this news is far from official.
"Just saying my dad has not been named head coach anywhere yet... I haven't seen anything on the news. This would be news to me"
