Buffalo Business Report - Wednesday, June 26th 2013

Preliminary unemployment rates from the state Labor Department were on the decline in May.  The rate of 7.3% compares to a rate of 8.2% for the same month last year in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area.

Big changes for the former Eight Buffalo Spirits LLC.  The lone local distillery is now known as Lockhouse Distillery.  Lockhouse uses Concord grapes from Westfield in vodka production.  Pending approvals, their product will be available in local establishments and select store shelves this summer.  Lockhouse is also preparing to launch a whiskey line for 2014.  For more information, you can follow this link. Atwal Eye Care has successfully completed a round of cataract surgeries utilizing a new laser technology.

BAV Services is celebrating its 25th anniversary this month.  The local audio visual production company has a national presence, servicing conventions and corporate events in Canada and Mexico as well.
