Buffalo Business Report - Friday, June 28th 2013

According to the AAA, the average cost for a gallon of unleaded gas locally has dropped two cents since last week to $3.72.  However, the gap between the local and national price has widened to twenty-one cents.  The current national average is $3.51.

There is continuing word of a possible mega cable deal in the making.  Numerous sources report Charter Communications is trying to purchase either Time Warner Cable or Cablevision.  Share prices for all three companies were up slightly at yesterday's close.

Amherst call center Sykes Enterprises is calling it quits in September.  The company will lay off 65 employees, due to the loss of a major client account.

The Wegmans LPGA will return to Rochester next year - but at a new date and venue.  Pittsford's Monroe Golf Club will host next year's event the week of August 11th.
