Bruins/Stars swap players, Briere to sign with Habs
For many people in this country, the 4th of July is a day to relax, eat some good food, and enjoy the company of friends and family. For a few NHL players today however, today was anything but relaxing.
First it was the Bruins and Stars making a major deal with some well known players. Former second overall pick Tyler Seguin was a name floating around in the trade market for some time now, and today his departure was made official. Boston sent Seguin, along with Forward Rich Peverley and defenseman Ryan Button to Lindy Ruff and the Dallas Stars. In return the B's acquired forward Loui Eriksson, and prospects Joseph Morrow, Reily Smith and Matt Fraser.
Later in the day the news came from a player who was in the minds of Buffalo fans for the past week. Danny Briere announced that he will sign a 2 year contract with the Montreal Canadiens reportedly worth $8 Million. "I am very excited at the opportunity to join the Montreal Canadiens" Briere said in a statement. "It's an organization that I looked up to throughout my youth and I really look forward to putting on the Habs jersey and contribute to the success of the team" Briere reportedly chose the Canadiens over the New Jersey Devils and Nashville Predators.
