Pittsford, NY (WGR 550) -- For the second straight day, Buffalo Bills outside linebacker Mario Williams was nowhere to be found on the practice field at St. John Fisher College. On Monday, it was revealed that Williams was excused and sent off-campus to have his sore foot evaluated by doctors.
Despite it be the second day missing, Head Coach Doug Marrone had nothing new to report on the status of their highest paid defensive player.
"I have not had any contact with anyone in regards to Mario," the coach said when initially asked about it. "Like I told you guys before, I have no information from yesterday. That's the God's truth, and that's really it. I know that, and I appreciate that everyone has to ask that question. I totally get it. I really do. But I promise you I'm telling you the truth. I really have not had any notice from the doctors or from anything above me on the situation. The minute we do, we'll let it out."
Marrone said the evaluation is still ongoing, and once again reiterated that he had nothing new to report. Mario Williams was brought up later on in the interview, with respect to how his injuries were handled in 2012.
The head coach didn't take too kindly to the constant questions about Williams after answering many on Monday, and then once again on Tuesday.
He interrupted the question right in the middle, and said this of the situation:
"I'm going to say this. I want to say something, please, and then I'll let you say your peace. So we're all on the same page: I'm a straight shooter. You can ask anyone that's ever known me from when I was a kid. I'm shooting you straight, okay? I understand that you have a job to do. I have an appreciation for it. But my answers are gonna be, it's the same situation as it was yesterday. For me to speculate, I never speculate until I hear from the medical staff. It's the same thing, 'Do you think it's an ACL' -- not with Mario, I'm talking about with players in general. The doctors go through an evaluation process and when they inform me, that's when I know. It's as simple as that. And I get frustrated honestly when it gets to a point where I feel like I've tried to explain myself and how I handle the injuries. I've answered the questions, and you keep coming at me. Put yourself in my position. I don't know."
As a back-and-forth with one reporter continued a little bit after that, Marrone tried to put an exclamation point on stopping the line of questioning.
"I'm done," the head coach said emphatically. "I'm not answering any more questions about Mario Williams until the doctor gives me this."
