Bills release Da'Rick Rogers and 4 others

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550)  -- The bubble has burst for one wide receiver many fans had high hopes for heading into the season. Moments before practice was about to start Monday, the Buffalo Bills announced the release of undrafted free agent wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers along with four others.

Rogers failed to consistently impress throughout training camp and the preseason games, resulting in being one of the last few receivers to see action on offense in both practice and the games. The former University of Tennessee star was kicked out of the school for failed drug tests and then went on to play for Tennessee Tech in 2012.

Despite being highly regarded by the draft community, Rogers plummeted all the way out of the 2013 NFL Draft and instead had to sign on as an undrafted free agent. He is now available to the 31 other teams in the NFL on waivers until Tuesday. If he clears, he then becomes a free agent.

Besides Rogers, the Bills also announced the release of wide receiver DeMarco Sampson, cornerback Jumal Rolle, safety Dominique Ellis and center Ryan Turnley.

The team's roster now has 75 players on the active roster, not including safety Jairus Byrd. The team received an exemption from the Commissioner so that Byrd would not count on the roster for two weeks.

The Bills would have had until Tuesday, August 27 at 4 pm to get their roster down to the limit of 75, but they have done so already. The next cutdown day will be Saturday, August 31 at 6 pm, when all teams in the NFL must get down to their 53-man rosters.

Are you planning to see Connor McDavid when he plays at FNC this season?
Absolutely. Its a chance to see a generational player in person
Yes and I'm going to see some games in Erie too
No. The Sabres probably won't get him so I don't need to see him
