Bills' Spiller, McKelvin, Byrd all questionable vs. Browns

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550)  -- As the Buffalo Bills attempt to have their first winning record in the Doug Marrone era, the team will have to wait until game day to see if they'll have three of their normal starters Thursday in Cleveland.

A day ahead of the game, the Bills have listed running back C.J. Spiller (ankle), cornerback Leodis McKelvin (hamstring) and safety Jairus Byrd (feet) as questionable on the injury report. That puts all three into the "game-time decision" category.

Spiller said on Monday that if he was near 80 to 85-percent healthy, he believed he would likely be good enough to try and play against the Browns on Thursday night. Spiller returned to practice Wednesday on a limited basis, after not participating on Monday or Tuesday.

On Tuesday, head coach Doug Marrone told reporters that with McKelvin it could be a similar case as on Sunday, when the cornerback worked out hours ahead of the game for trainers and coaches. They ultimately decided to rest McKelvin with the hopes that he would be able return against Cleveland. He's been limited at practice all throughout the shortened week.

For the second straight day, the team's franchised safety practiced in full. This is the third game in a row Byrd is listed as questionable heading into a game. Dealing with plantar fasciitis in both feet, he has yet to play in a regular season game in 2013.

Six other Bills listed on Wednesday's injury report are likely to play. Running back Fred Jackson (knee), defensive lineman Kyle Williams (Achilles), right guard Kraig Urbik (knee), defensive back Aaron Williams (back), wide receiver Stevie Johnson (hamstring) and defensive end Mario Williams (ankle) are listed as probable.

The four mainstays of the injury report in 2013, cornerback Stephon Gilmore (wrist), cornerback Ron Brooks (foot), wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (hand) and kicker Dustin Hopkins (groin) have already been declared out.

The Bills and Browns square off at 8:25 pm at FirstEnergy Stadium on Thursday.
