Buffalo Business Report - Tuesday, October 8th 2013
The New York Power Authority has completed an upgrade to one of the twelve pump-turbines at the Niagara Hydroelectric Power Plant in Lewiston. Business First reports the 10-year $460 million upgrade will ensure that only one turbine is being worked on at a time. Ferguson Electric of Buffalo is the contractor doing the work.
NYPA also approved more than $2.3 million in grants to Western New York enterprises. $1.75 million of that will help the Niagara Falls Aquarium's renovation and expansion project.
Buffalo-based Power Drives, Incorporated will open a retail store in Tonawanda next month. Called Power Drives Express Hose Center, the store will be located on Sheridan Drive just west of Military Road. The company offers tubing, hoses and fittings that can be installed on site.
