Buffalo Business Report - Tuesday, October 15th 2013



Governor Andrew Cuomo concentrates on economic development in a visit to Buffalo Tuesday, conducting a bus tour of the waterfront before ending up at the groundbreaking for the New downtown University at Buffalo edical School.

Excellus BlueCross BlueShield has announced it will no longer offer two government health-care programs: Medicaid Managed Care and Family Health Plus. Business First reports that this will effect about 2,300 individuals in Orleans County. Individuals will continue to receive coverage under the plans, but with the coverage managed by another provider.

Key Bank of Western New York has adopted the Kalfas Magnet School in Niagara Falls, sponsoring a food bank program to provde needy children with back pack lunches there.

The 2014 Buffalo Niagara Business Ethics Award nominations are underway.  Small, mid and large-sized companies that exhibit the highest standards in ethical business cultures will be honored.  Nominations are due by November 1st and take a few minutes to complete.  You may make a nomination here.
