Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550) -- For the past two weeks, the Buffalo Bills have kept running back C.J. Spiller active and playing at least a minor role despite his ankle injury. There has been a consistent positive reinforcement from head coach Doug Marrone about the condition of the injury from a weekly standpoint.
On Thursday Marrone was once again asked about how Spiller's ankle was progressing, after a practice in which Spiller looked a little stiff in his movements. This time around, Marrone went into more detail regarding his running back's status.
"I think it's been one of those nagging things, I really do," he said. "It's not 100-percent, but I think it's getting better and better. Then what happens is then you go ahead and play and then it goes back and forth, so we're just trying to get over the top where at least it's feeling better than it was at this time last week."
With the injury going "back and forth" after each game that they play, might the Bills consider resting him one of these weeks to get him back to his natural self?
"That's happening with a lot of players but again it goes back to they want to be out there," Marrone responded. "So I think if it's something that we see it as where it's not progressing, where it hasn't been better than the week before, that's obviously an option."
In the past two games since suffering the injury against Baltimore in Week Four, Spiller has had only 30 offensive snaps out of the 146 the Bills have had total. He was a limited participant on Thursday after being labeled as a non-participant on Wednesday.
Spiller's status for Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, along with the rest of the players on the injury report, will be unveiled following Friday's practice.
Spiller's ankle needs steady progress for Bills to keep playing him

Not sure if he is worth a 1st rounder. to injury prone.
He and Manuel look like they will be out all the time. SMH. Can Buffalo catch a break ever?
If anyone thinks Spiller and Manuel are injury prone, just look around the league. Spiller has been pretty durable and Manuel is way too early to make a call like that. Manuel needs to learn when to run and when to slide. You can't blame the guy for trying.
if you around the league. you wiil see some big names out for the season. and for the bills to keep the players. Heathy at this point in the season. mean a lot for the last games of the season. take new england for starts. the players that they lost. Is goimg to hurt them. these players are gone for the season. teams are going to hit them up at those weak spots. just like they did the bills. but when you got players comming back. makes the team stronger. im hoping the rest of the teams keep on loseing. it only can help the bills. but if these players didn't come back. weel the season would be over. so many players are playing with injuries. we should all take our hats off to them. because their showing us that they not going to lay down and die. the game isnt over untill the whisle blows. love that mind set the bills got. if you are 60 yrs old mkes you want to out and play football. go get em ruff buff
