Sabres season could get uglier

The October portion of the 2013-2014 NHL schedule has not been kind to the Buffalo Sabres. It could change as the month finishes up but a quick glance at the slate of games coming up in November won't make you feel any better about how the season is playing out.

The Sabres do close this month with three very winnable games, yes winnable even for a 1-9-1 team that's been outscored 33-15.  Tonight's opponent, the Florida Panthers, reside just above the Sabres in the Atlantic Division standings with just three wins and seven points in 10 games.

On Monday the Sabres will host the Dallas Stars and the story will be the return of Lindy Ruff but Ruff has his hands full with his new team who have eight points to show for nine games of work.

Halloween night should bring a very scary game for hockey fans in New York who will see the struggling Sabres play a Rangers team that has fallen out of the gate.  Saddled with a season opening nine game road trip, the Rangers have a mere four points with one game left before they return home.

Here's where it can get even uglier for the Sabres as if this month hasn't been ugly enough.  November starts with a home game against Anaheim who are currently 7-3.  The its off to the west coast and three games in four nights with Pacific Division leading San Jose, Los Angeles and a second meeting with the Ducks.

There's a return match with the Kings at First Niagara Center before the Sabres play a home and home with the co-Atlantic leading Toronto Maple Leafs.  Buffalo and Toronto meet again downtown on November 29th.

November will also feature visits from St. Louis which currently has one regulation loss in seven games, as well as Detroit and Montreal.

How will the Bills fare with Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown?
They'll be fine. NFL running backs are interchangeable.
They're in trouble. Fred and CJ are too important.
