Bills announce Spiller and Lawson as doubtful

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550)  -- It seems those clamoring for Buffalo Bills running back C.J. Spiller to rest a game may finally get their wish. After missing his third straight practice of the week, Spiller received the official designation of 'doubtful' for the team's upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints.

"It was, from what y'all seen, that was the least that I had done. I didn't have my helmet on or nothing like that," Spiller said after practice. "Today is pretty much what we call a 'fast Friday,' so obviously I can't go super fast so they just let me do minimal."

The term 'doubtful,' in NFL circles at least, means that there is at least a 75-percent chance that a player will not participate in their upcoming game. Head coach Doug Marrone still viewed Spiller as a game-time decision.

Similarly to Spiller, linebacker Manny Lawson is doubtful for the contest against the Saints. He re-injured his hamstring against Miami, this time in a different spot, and then had a setback during a Wednesday workout after practice.

Lawson has not participated in any of the three practices in the week leading up to the Saints game.

The Bills will likely have running back Fred Jackson though, despite him only practicing on a limited basis on Friday. A sprained MCL kept him out of the session on Wednesday, but after two limited practices he's received the 'probable' designation.

Defensive lineman Kyle Williams (Achilles) is probable once again, and quarterback EJ Manuel (knee) will miss his third straight game.
