Bills QB Lewis "should be available" for Sunday

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550)  -- Lost in the shuffle of rookie quarterback EJ Manuel being cleared by doctors to play, the man pegged to replace the first-round pick while he was injured is expected to return from an injury himself. Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone told reporters that quarterback Thad Lewis is throwing, feeling better and "should be available" on Sunday.

In three starts for the Bills Lewis went 1-2, threw three touchdowns, two interceptions and fumbled the ball six times. He had to miss the team's most recent game against Kansas City due to sore ribs, but is likely to be back for Week 10.

Barring any unforseen setback, Lewis would likely get the start over undrafted rookie Jeff Tuel in the case that Manuel is not ready to play. The Bills take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road on Sunday.

The team only suffered two injuries against the Chiefs and both will be re-evaluated as the week goes along. Wide receivers Marquise Goodwin (hamstring) and Robert Woods (ankle) each had to leave the game prematurely following a second half injury.

In Goodwin's case, Marrone said they'll know a lot more once they're able to test the hamstring. With Woods, they're going to give him rest on Monday and Tuesday, and then see how the ankle reacts during the first practice of the week on Wednesday.

The Bills (3-6) and Steelers (2-6) will meet at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh Sunday at 1 pm.
