Bills planning on EJ Manuel starting Sunday

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550)  -- The month-long wait is seemingly over for the Buffalo Bills. It appears as though rookie quarterback and first round pick EJ Manuel will make his first start since October 3 this Sunday.

"We're planning on him going," head coach Doug Marrone finally said, after being hesitant to go all in on the idea on Wednesday. "EJ wasn't sore or anything yesterday. That was the one thing we were waiting for. Barring any setbacks in the next couple of days, both he and Thad are ready."

Manuel was a full participant in his second straight practice and took the majority of the first-team repetitions according to the head coach. He's been rehabbing an LCL sprain in his right knee for the past four weeks.

Manuel will likely be without receiver Robert Woods, who missed his second straight practice with an ankle injury, when the Bills face the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday. After taking a step forward Thursday, the quarterback should have their big-play threat in the lineup.

Wideout Marquise Goodwin practiced on a limited basis and his hamstring injury appears to have settled down enough to the head coach's liking.

"Today I felt good," Marrone said about Goodwin. "I think he'll be ready to go from what I've seen today."

Quarterback Thad Lewis (ribs) and defensive lineman Kyle Williams (Achilles) both practiced in full, and both are expected to be available to play on Sunday against the Steelers.

The Bills conclude their practice week on Friday, when Marrone will release his official designations for Sunday's contest.
