Game Wrap: Bills lose 23-10 to Steelers

EJ Manuel's return is a dismal one as the Buffalo Bills are dumped 23-10 by the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field.

All throughout the first half, it seemed to be a battle of field position as the weather in Pittsburgh was not kind with temperatures in the low 40's and high winds. The Steelers - electing to receive after the coin toss - managed to secure a first down on their opening drive, and they also benefited from a Stephon Gilmore holding penalty, getting them nearly to midfield before Jairus Byrd picked off Ben Roethlisberger, giving the Bills excellent field position at the Pittsburgh 29 yard line. A very slow, methodical drive resulted in a 20 yard field goal from Dan Carpenter, making the score 3-0. Both teams would then exchange punts to head into the 2nd quarter.

Pittsburgh opted to stick with the run, running the ball 7 straight times to get them all the way down to the Buffalo 7 yard line before Kyle Williams came up with a big sack on 3rd and goal, forcing a Shawn Suisham 36-yard field goal, tying the game at 3 with 8:52 left in the half. The Bills can't get anything going on their next possession, and the Steelers begin to open things up through the air. Roethlisberger completes a 24 yard pass to Antonio Brown right at the 2 minute warning, and the very next play coming out of it Jerricho Cotchery found himself open in the end zone to give Pittsburgh the lead 10-3, and that would be the score at the end of the 1st half.

It's more of the same to begin the 3rd quarter. Buffalo begins with a punt, Pittsburgh returns the favor, and then another 3 and out from the Bills gave the Steelers a drive start at their own 42 yard line after a 24 yard punt return. The aforementioned Brown returned the punt, made a 40 yard catch on the first play from scrimmage to give Pittsburgh the ball in the red zone, and Le'Veon Bell pounds it in to make it 17-3.

The Bills sealed their fate early in the final frame, as Ryan Clark picked off EJ Manuel, the turnover results in a field goal, making it 20-3 Pittsburgh. Buffalo's offense is stifled again on the following possession, Manuel is sacked on two consecutive plays, and another big punt return gave the Steelers another field goa. lA Chris Cragg garbage time touchdown in the final secondsmade it 23-10, which is your final score.

Buffalo is now 3-7, they host the New York Jets next Sunday at 1 PM.
