Buffalo Sabres' legendary broadcaster Rick Jeanneret joined Rob Ray in between the benches for the Sabres' 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings.
Jeanneret didn't plan the event in advance. He explained on the broadcast:
"The elevator that services the press box was broken down this afternoon," RJ said, wearing a hockey helmet with clear face shield. "So I said 'OK, we'll just do it from between the benches along with Rob Ray. At the moment when I said that, I was kidding. I'm not anymore, that's where we're going to be."
Razor kidded Jeanneret about it being hard to tell when he's joking around.
"You're such a serious guy, so when you want to do something RJ, the door is open," Ray said.
And that's where he was. Jeanneret saw some action, too. Kings' forward Dwight King was checked along the board, nearly landing on RJ.
