Sabres GM search

Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is reporting that the Penguins have granted Jason Botterill permission to talk to the Buffalo Sabres about their open General Manager position.

Botterill is in his fifth season as Assistant General Manger to Ray Shero.

TSN's Bob McKenzie reports the Sabres are also considering Toronto  Assistant General Manager Claude Loiselle, Montreal Assistant G-M and former Sabre Rick Dudley as well as Boston Assistant G-M Jim Benning.  Benning spent twelve years in the Sabres hockey operations including eight as the Director of Amateur Scouting.

The Boston Globe reports the Sabres have yet to ask permission to speak with Benning but are expected to do so.
