Morrow, Blues Skate Past Sabres 4-1
Brenden Morrow scored twice and Jaroslav Halak made 23 saves, leading the Blues to a 4-1 win over the Sabres at First Niagara Center on Tuesday. Tyler Ennis scored Buffalo's lone goal just 10 seconds into the game. Head inside for more.
The two sides were knotted 1-1 just 1:09 into the game thanks to quick goals by Ennis and Morrow. The Buffalo forward put a Ville Leino pass behind Halak only 10 seconds after the opening faceoff, giving Buffalo the quick 1-0 advantage. The Sabres lead lasted just 59 seconds following Morrow's third of the season. A power play by Vladimir Tarasenko put St. Louis ahead 2-1 with 36 seconds to play in the opening period.
Morrow added his second of the evening at 14:09 of the second period, a rocket that deflected off the post and into the Buffalo net. With about 14 minutes remaining in regulation, Magnus Paajarvi pounced on a loose puck and ripped a shot past Ryan Miller, putting the Blues up 4-1.
Derek Roy picked up one point in his return to First Niagara Center, an assist on Morrow's second goal.
