Tigers Trade Prince Fielder to Rangers for Ian Kinsler
Mike Jafari Reporting
CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman reports the Detroit Tigers have traded first baseman Prince Fielder to the Texas Rangers in exchange for second baseman Ian Kinsler.
Fielder left the Milwaukee Brewers in 2012 to sign a 9-year $214 million dollar contract with the Tigers. Heyman reports the Tigers made the trade with the hopes of freeing up money to re-sign pitching ace Max Scherzer.
As for the Rangers, they acquire a first baseman who has hit over 30 Home Runs six of his nine years in the league. Trading Kinsler also opens up a roster space for promising infielder, Jurickson Profar.
The deal is still pending due to Fielder’s no-trade clause, but the deal is expected to go through. Stay tuned to WGR for the latest.
