Bills' Meeks starts practicing, could return Week 15

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550)  -- The Buffalo Bills are almost at full health on their active roster, and even a member of their Injured Reserve looks to be closing in on a return. Rookie safety Jonathan Meeks, who was placed on IR with the designation to return on October 14, started practicing with his teammates on Monday.

Meeks suffered a high ankle sprain and the team elected to put him on the eight-week reserve listing with a need at quarterback that same week. Both the rookie and quarterback Thad Lewis suffered injuries against Cincinnati, and the Bills decided to put Meeks on IR and sign free agent Matt Flynn.

The safety was eligible to return to practice two weeks ahead of his potential return date, which was indeed Monday morning. The Bills cannot activate Meeks from IR until December 9, a day after their Week 14 contest in Tampa Bay.

"We're excited that we've got him back now. He was a good, young player and did some good things for us," head coach Doug Marrone said. "We're gonna see how he develops and then we'll make a decision when that time comes. That'll be a decision that I'll talk to Doug Whaley about, and we'll do what's best for our roster."

If all goes well, Meeks could be available to play for Buffalo on December 15 when they go on the road to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
