Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550) -- The way the week was shaping up, the Buffalo Bills looked like a team that would have their full roster available to play against the Atlanta Falcons in Toronto on Sunday. During the final day of practice this week, one of their best players was nowhere to be found.
Defensive lineman Kyle Williams was not on the practice field for the first time this week. In normal weeks, Williams would receive each Wedendsay off to rest his right Achilles. The Bills are coming off their bye however, which could have given the defender enough time to rest it over the weekend.
His lack of participation to end the week was not due to the Achilles, however. The defensive lineman got up from bed on Friday morning and was greeted by a back spasm.
"It was a lot of fun this morning. I think I woke up everybody in my house," Williams said. "I don't know how to describe it. It's just something that happened. I guess I just slept on it funny and then jumped up too fast. I don't know how it happened."
With the latest development, the Bills and head coach Doug Marrone have labeled one of their top defenders as 'questionable' for the team's upcoming game against the Falcons.
"We're gonna work on it, we're gonna be aggressive and see how it does," Williams remarked. "I plan on playing. At the same time, if you can't you're only gonna hurt everybody else."
It's the first back spasm Williams has ever had, and it's affecting the lower left side of his back.
"It's just something that jumps up on you," he said. "A lot of times when it's getting better it'll go away just as quick as it came. So that's kind of what we're hanging our hat on."
Joining Williams on the injury report for Sunday are wide receiver Stevie Johnson, wide receiver Robert Woods and cornerback Nickell Robey. All three are probable to play.
Kickoff between the Bills and Falcons is set for 4:05 pm.
