Game Wrap: Falcons 34 Bills 31

Consecutive turnovers by the Bills on fumbles by WR Stevie Johnson and TE Scott Chandler lead to a 34-31 overtime win for the Atlanta Falcons over Buffalo at Rogers Centre in Toronto.

A first half that started off strong ended on a slide as the Bills and Falcons were tied at 17 at the half. Buffalo jumped out to an early 14-0 lead thanks to short rushing TDs from EJ Manuel and Fred Jackson. It was Atlanta answering with a 27 yard rushing touchdown of their own by Steven Jackson.

The Bills tacked on a field goal but on the ensuing possession Atlanta answered with another long run, this time it was Antone Smith scampering 38 yards for the score. A 49 yard Matt Bryant field goal closed out the half, and the teams headed to the locker room deadlocked.

The second half did start out well for the Bills as their offense stalled and their defense gave up a touchdown pass to Tony Gonzalez. The Bills defense then came up big as Kiko Alonso jumped on a fumbled snap to give the Bills the ball at the Falcons 21 yard line. EJ Manuel didn't waste his time as he hit Fred Jackson for a 21 yard score.

The teams traded possessions a few times and CJ Spiller broke the 24 all tie with a 36 yard zig-zagging burst into the end zone to put Buffalo up by a touchdown, 31-24. The Bills offense couldn't get going following that as they suffered through two 3 and outs. That left the Falcons to drive down the field and after a pass interference penalty put the Falcons at the one yard line. Steven Jackson knotted up the game from one yard out.

The Bills put together a solid drive following that score but Stevie Johnson fumbled a third down completion at the Falcons 25 with under 30 seconds left.

The Bills got the ball to start the overtime but on the first possession Tight End Scott Chandler fumbled and the Falcons recovered. A completion to Harry Douglas set Atlanta up at the Bills 29 and Matt Bryant knocked home a 36 yard field goal to win it.
